Become a TV legend by making the final of the world's first mass TXT Rock Paper Scissors Knock-out, broadcast to the nation by C4. Or, win your share of over 2,000 prizes - simply by playing rps027.

Rock, Paper, Scissors is the world's most-played game. With rps027, you play it via TXT against The Machine for the chance to get through to the final and win increasingly bigger prizes.

Play starts 11 February! Knockout rounds continue until 23 February. Then, the last eight players still standing take on each other in a crazy, hour-long C4 TV spectacular.

Hosted by James Coleman and featuring Jacquie Brown and Clarke Gayford, the show will screen on Sunday 27 February. To oversee affairs we're flying in Graham and Doug Walker, key officials of The World RPS Society, the international body that is sanctioning rps027. This will be rps like you've never seen it before.

Lotsa Ways to Win

Whoever wins the final has the chance to face The Machine in the Final Confrontation and become NZ's first national rps celeb, winning high-tech gear, great travel prizes, and the ultimate in urban transport.

Even if you're KO-ed along the way, you can still keep playing for great prizes in the Weekly Prize Pools. You're also in the draw for the big Wildcard prize.

The Wildcard Prize Draw

The Wildcard prize draw is specifically for players who get KO-ed along the way. The Wildcard winner will be announced during the C4 grand final broadcast - so watch out for it on 27 February. You get an entry simply for registering, and you get another entry for each round towards the final that you survive.

Register to Play

It's man and woman against The Machine, and you could be the one. But before you can beat The Machine, you have to beat the deadline and register before 11 February - or you're out of contention.

First, you have to register before 11 February, or rps fame and fortune cannot be yours. Once you sign up, here's how it works:

› You'll get a TXT alert a few hours before play begins on 11 February

› When the game begins, and again at the start of each new round, The Machine will TXT you and ask for your play. You key in R for rock, P for paper or S for scissors and TXT it to 2005

› The Machine will TXT you back the play it chose randomly and tell you whether you won, lost or drew

› Each round is 'best of three'. But even if you only draw, you still go through to the next round, so the odds are in your favour

› You'll have a few hours to make your play. You'll get a reminder if you didn't respond to the TXT or if for some reason you haven't played.

› If you don't respond to the reminder after six hours, or if you lose a round, you're knocked out - KO-ed, in fact. However, you can still play for the Weekly Prize Pools and you're in contention for the Wildcard prize

› There'll be as many rounds as it takes to KO everyone down to the last eight players. There'll probably be at least one round a day, probably more. The Machine will TXT you each time a new round begins.

Practise rps online or use the phone demo. Txt 'demo' to 2005. It's free.

Finger tricky tip one: R, P and S are on the same button on most mobiles. Check before you send just to be sure it's right. Go to Fun Stuff for more player wisdom.
